BRYNILDSEN GETS A NEW EVOLUTION FORD FIESTA R5 FOR RALLY SWEDEN
Continuing M-Sport’s close partnership with Adapta Motorsport, Eyvind Brynildsen will take to the wheel of the new evolution Ford Fiesta R5 at next month’s Rally Sweden.
Joining forces with Elfyn Evans, the pairing will contest the second round of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) in a variation of the M-Sport World Rally Team livery that was revealed at this week’s Autosport International.
Following more than six months of development, the new evolution Fiesta R5 has been heightened with a substantial engine upgrade that delivers a significant increase in power – an incredible gain of 32bhp at 4500rpm and 56Nm of torque at 4000rpm which equates to the single best development step in any M-Sport engine.
Brynildsen is a proven talent behind the wheel and a formidable competitor on snow – claiming the Norwegian Rally Championship title with the Ford Fiesta RRC last year.
It is hoped that the combination of Evans and Brynildsen will see M-Sport compete for the top positions in WRC 2.
Eyvind Brynildsen said:
“I am really looking forward to Rally Sweden which will be something of a home event for me. Last year I won the Norwegian Rally Championship at the wheel of a Ford Fiesta so I have good knowledge of M-Sport’s cars and I can’t wait to experience the huge gains that M-Sport has made with the Fiesta R5.
“It really is fantastic to be driving as part of the M-Sport team and I think that we can be competitive. I will certainly do my best to fight for the top positions and bring home a really strong result for the team.”
M-Sport Managing Director, Malcolm Wilson OBE, said:
“The combination of Elfyn and Eyvind will allow us to challenge for WRC 2 victory at next month’s Rally Sweden. Being something of a specialist event, we felt it important to have someone accustomed to winter rallying and I think Eyvind will do a great job for us.
“His appointment also continues our close partnership with Adapta Motorsport. We know how strong Eyvind is – especially on snow – and I am confident that he can be at the top of the time sheets throughout the weekend.”
